Important Announcement Regarding the In Depth Workshop!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the session for Problem 5: Opposites Distract is cancelled for the In Depth workshop on Saturday December 1. Problem Captains Tori and Amy would like to apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Coaches, please email any questions you have to the problem captains at problem5@georgiaodyssey.org. Tori and Amy will be more than happy to assist you with any questions you have regarding the problem and the clarification process.

Finally, feel free to reach out to Janie, our coaches mentor, for any and all questions you have about coaching in general. She can be reached by emailing coaches@georgiaodyssey.org.

We are excited to be hosting the In-depth workshop this coming weekend on December 1st. The workshop will be from 1pm to about 4pm at Trickum Middle School. If you haven’t already signed up, please be sure to do so by navigating to registration –> in depth workshop and filling out the simple registration form. Please arrive early to find parking and get checked in. There will be a new coaches workshop going on in the morning that all new coaches are strongly encouraged to attend.

We hope to see everyone there! All of our problem captains are very excited to be discussing the problems with coaches and preparing teams for this season.

Please remember, absolutely no competitors or persons under the age of 18 are allowed at the in depth workshop.

To all new coaches,

The date we are having our coaches workshop for all NEW coaches is this coming Saturday, December 1st!  Please come join us and experience a helpful training session of how to deal with a group of kids and guide them to a successful Odyssey season.  We have lots of experienced folks ready to help guide you and your team on its journey through this experience that is Odyssey of the Mind.

We offer a training session that will go through the ins and outs of the program. The training provides in depth information into coaching, dealing with teams, understanding the basics of the program, a guide to layout the year, how a tournament day works, and other questions you might find yourself asking. We’ll be sure to have a Q&A session with the group so everyone can ask and share anything that comes up.

To add to the excitement, in the afternoon we will the in depth workshop at the same location. This means new coaches can come in the morning to learn about helping their team on the Odyssey journey and stay for the afternoon where you can go over the rules for the specific problem your team has chosen!

The Odyssey Season is upon us and we are working with locations to schedule all of the wonderful events for the upcoming year.  The calendar is being updated daily with additional events. We still have a few things that we are trying to get settled.   Feel free to check out the schedule for the 2018-2019 upcoming year and be sure to mark your calendars! We hop to have the calendar finalized with full information by September 25th.

It’s time once again to get all of your creative juices flowing Georgia Odyssey’s annual Pin contest! So get out your pens and paper and start creating!  We need your ideas to design this year’s 2018-2019 pins and shirts. We want to hear from you. We want your ideas!

What to include:

• Submissions should include a black/white and a color version of the design.
• Your Name and Membership information on every submission

We think you can do it! Send in as many ideas as you want. We will review all designs and announce the winners at the Regional Tournaments. The winners will receive a free pin based on their design.  Please know your ideas may be combined with another and/or will be modified to account for drawing abilities.

Due Date: All entries must be received by August 23rd!
